			News BMI Scraps Routes Bmi regional is scrapping five routes and pulling out of Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester airports following a comprehensive review of operations. The airline, which became fully independent a year ago, will keep Aberdeen and Bristol as its main hubs. The routes being scrapped are Manchester to Edinburgh and Antwerp, Birmingham to Billund and Edinburgh to Copenhagen and Brussels. On the affected routes, services will operate up to the termination dates of 29 November for Manchester, 31 December for Birmingham and 5 January for Edinburgh. Aberdeen to Manchester flights will continue but will be crewed from Aberdeen and the airline said most of its European operations would be unaffected. First Great Western Offer Discounts on Advance Fares First Great Western is offering a ten per cent discount off of Advance tickets across its network when booked through its website, www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk. The discount is available on all Advance fares booked online through to May 2014. Advance fares are made available from 12 weeks before the date of travel and can be purchased up to the day before travel, subject to availability. Serviced Apartment Rates Continue to Rise The long-stay accommodation sector continues to grow in popularity with business travellers visiting the capital, as occupancy rates hit 90 per cent for London operators in the third quarter of this year. Elsewhere across the country, serviced apartment occupancy rates averaged 85 per cent. In London the average net weekly rental rate was £1,238 for the third quarter, up from £1,166. For the rest of the UK the average rate rose to £646, up five per cent on the previous quarter. Eurostar to Launch Amsterdam Services Eurostar will launch direct services between London and Amsterdam from December 2016 after signing an agreement with the Dutch railways. It plans to run two services a day, with journey times of around four hours. These services will run via Brussels to Amsterdam stopping at Antwerp, Rotterdam, Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Centraal, featuring Eurostar's new e320 trains. Back to News
